Summer courses are offered in an online hybrid format, with only one required in-person weekend on campus.

This summer, we are excited to offer the following hybrid courses:

Advanced Conducting and Musicianship (3 credits): May 19th - July 6th 
In-person weekend: June 27^th and 28^th
Instructor: Joseph Gehring

This specialized course is designed for music educators seeking advanced instruction and practice in choral and instrumental conducting techniques. Students will delve into complex gestures, patterns, score interpretation, rehearsal management, and unique challenges in choral and instrumental settings. Advanced musicianship exercises will equip students with the tools to elevate their performance abilities.

Building Community Through Popular Music Ensembles (2 credits): July 7^th - August 15th
In-person weekend: August 1^st and 2^nd
Instructor: Rachael Sanguinetti

In this course, teachers will explore popular music topics through the lens of community building and belonging. Teachers will experience Modern Band, collaborative online music making, and more. This course will focus on building community through ensemble participation and performance, helping students develop focus, listening, teamwork, and respect.
